Mikhail Savelyev, the head and instructor of the Russian Yacht Center, yachtmaster will traditionally make presentations from the Main Stage of The Moscow Dive Show 2021.

On Thursday, April 8, at 17:30 Mikhail Savelyev and the A Yacht as a Way of Life Youtube channel will present on the screen of the Main Stage the documentary film Peter Blake about the famous New Zealand yachtsman, who became a symbol of the whole sailing epoch of the ‘80-90s of the XX century. During his years in sailing, Blake won almost all the main prizes, winning the Whitbread round-the-world race in the 90s, twice became the winner of the most famous sailing regatta America's Cup, the oldest international competition in the world.

It was him who broke the US team undefeated streak, creating the world famous Team New Zealand, the current holder of the America's Cup, laid down the Team’s traditions, symbols, and introduced prominent athletes to the sailing world. But most importantly, he turned New Zealand into the largest yachting country, where yachting is a fashionable and prestigious activity for every person, and Blake's famous "red socks for good luck” are in the wardrobe of almost every yachtsman in the world.

On Friday, April 9, at 14:30, Mikhail Savelyev will take the stage of the Moscow Dive Show 2021 to tell the audience about the world's oldest America's Cup regatta organization matters, to explain how innovations overcame huge budgets and why the America's Cup is the best thing that ever happened to sailing.

The America's Cup is the most prestigious sailing regatta in the world, founded by Queen Victoria in 1851, 45 years earlier than the modern Olympic Games. The Cup has always attracted tycoons, businessmen and royalties, from Sir Thomas Lipton to media mogul Ted Turner. For 132 years, the trophy was permanently won by the yachtsmen of the New York Yacht Club, until the Australian innovators came to yachting in 1983.
